The Research and Information Systems for Developing Countries (RIS) and Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India hosted the Workshop on Science, Technology, and Innovation for Sustainable Development Goals.
Speaking at the inauguration program of the workshop, Shri Hemang Jani, Secretary, Capacity Building Commission added that ‘Technologies are the new humanities’, and India is and will continue to play a key role in supporting development of Science, Technology, and Innovations. He added that India is emerging as one of the most innovative countries in the world and serves as test bed for innovations applicable for global south. India is steadfast to develop its own capacity to ensure its STI outputs are taking ‘Local to Global’.
The program is part of the global pilot programme on STI for SDGs Roadmap hosted by United Nations (and endorsed by G20). The global STI for SDGs program is aimed towards enhancing global cooperation for global Technology Facilitation Mechanism (TFM). The program is being piloted in five countries, viz. Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Serbia, and India.
