Dr. R Balasubramaniam, Member (HR), Capacity Building Commission, visited the Matsushita Institute of Government and Management, Japan.

During his visit, he interacted with the Institute’s senior leadership and associates currently undergoing training to serve in public life. The discussions focused on understanding how the Institute nurtures young professionals to take on leadership roles in governance and public service.

Founded in 1979 by Konosuke Matsushita, the Institute was built on the belief that solving a nation's problems requires nurturing ethical, visionary leaders-not just bureaucrats. Its model combines intensive field experience, long-term mentoring, and a strong moral foundation. Over 50% of its alumni have gone on to hold elected office in Japan including Prime Ministers, Ministers, and Governors - a rare, measurable example of leadership development directly shaping national governance.

This aligns closely with CBC’s commitment to transforming India’s civil services into a citizen-centric, future-ready workforce-grounded in values and driven by purpose.
