Dr. Alka Mittal, Member, Capacity Building Commission (CBC), delivered the address at the National Conference on the Role of Young Generation & Women in a Strong and Vibrant Indian National Power Grid, held in New Delhi today. She highlighted the aspect of value-driven leadership grounded in integrity, empathy and fairness, and stressed upon the need for courage in decision-making by taking tough calls with accountability.
Emphasizing upon a people-centric approach, Dr Mittal highlighted the importance of listening and empathy in large organizations. She urged leaders to broaden their strategic outlook by moving from an operational to an organizational perspective and aligning personal vision with institutional goals.
For emerging leaders, she advised investing in continuous learning, building resilience by viewing failure as feedback, communicating with authenticity, and developing a personal leadership brand anchored in strong values, reminding everyone that “Leadership is not about titles; it’s about influence and impact.”
During her address, she also mentioned that the Capacity Building Commission is associating itself with the DPE, SCOPE and the PSE leadership to evolve a strategic HR ecosystem for aligning it with the National Development Goals.
She concluded with a call to action: “Lead with courage, compassion and conviction & always walk the talk.”
