Government of India Act of 1935



The Government of India Act of 1935 was another milestone towards a completely responsible government in India. It aimed at establishment of federal polity in the country. Division of power between centre and provinces was introduced through 3 lists i.e Federal, provincial and concurrent list. It introduced provincial autonomy. It further extended the principle of communal representation. The act provided for the establishment of a Federal, provincial and joint public service commission, Reserve Bank of India and a federal court.
